Front-End Web Developer

Introduction

​At Lowe & Fletcher we design and manufacture locking systems for a broad range of industrial customers. Although often discreet, our products are all around; last year our international group sold over 70 million locks, ranging from simple mechanical locks to advanced electronic products.

We are now seeking to hire a Front-End Web Developer to help create our next phase of advanced, connected, electronic locks. This will be a challenging and diverse role with total responsibility for all user-facing elements of a cross platform product including desktop and mobile web applications. Reporting to the Innovation Director, the position will be based with the engineering team at our offices in Wednesbury in the West Midlands, however, we will be happy to consider remote working options.

Principal Responsibilities

• Implementation of user-facing software elements for desktop and mobile web apps
• Collaborate with UI/UX designer and translate concepts to class leading visual design
• Writing well documented, re-usable code and libraries
• Optimisation for performance and robustness

Essential Skills

The successful candidate will have a passion for software design demonstrated by a portfolio of projects in and outside work which they can discuss at interview.

A high level of relevant education and qualifications is expected.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience in a similar role, coupled with demonstrable knowledge and experience of the following:

• Web mark-up including HTML5 and CSS3
• Client-side scripting frameworks including JavaScript, jQuery and preferably also ReactJS or similar
• Asynchronous request handling and AJAX
• Testing and validation, including cross-browser compatibility
• Code version control using Git or similar
• Image editing using Photoshop or Gimp
• Ability to work effectively as part of team to launch a new product
